Independent monitoring of paddy rice, from receipt to delivery of milled rice.
The challenge
In a rice stock held as collateral or under management, every tonne received, processed and delivered must be counted, checked and accounted for. That is the purpose of stock monitoring: an independent eye at every step.
How the assignment unfolded
In Yamoussoukro, TARA Groupe Agro-Industrie receives paddy rice, stores it, mills it, then delivers milled rice. Between receipt and delivery, every tonne can lose weight or quality, and these losses weigh directly on the value of the stock. Throughout the assignment, we were present at every step: on arrival of the paddy, we supervised receipts and weighing and visually checked quality and damage; in the warehouse, we followed stacking and compliance with storage standards; at the mill, milling and bagging; and finally, deliveries of milled rice. Shrinkage, that is, the loss of material during storage and processing, was determined all along the chain.
